Has anyone ever discussed what happens when a computer is shut off? Does every program just “oh sleepy time” sjisjiskjskjsojsjo I’m not familiar with office computers but I’m guessing the server never technically “Sleeps” or gets shut off but it’s a interesting concept.
God mandated bedtime
So this is a thing: if you leave certain programs running for too long on a personal computer (looking at you, Microsoft Office), never properly shutting them down, you’ll start getting errors because they run out of working memory.
So, I guess, some programs need sleep?
Now imagine being a creature that needs sleep, but the day just won’t end, and you *cannot* sleep or even leave work unless it does. Getting less and less efficient, working slower and slower, until you eventually start to hallucinate and lose your shit until you just… collapse, begging for mercy.
(I guess I am a cruel god, to the user-end applications on my poor laptop.)
