The thing about being someone like me who’s basically pattern recognition software…

…you have quite a few options for hobbies you can be good at.

Because, when trying a new thing… even if you’ve never been trained on any datasets specifically ABOUT this thing… you’ve likely been trained on something close enough to analogize.

And youve got a low threshold for “close enough to analogize.” If there’s ONE thing you’re truly skilled at, in the highest percentile, it’s analogizing– finding similarities– that’s the heart of pattern recognition.

Jack of all tasks, Aster of one.

I can do many things, but that’s my one fundamental talent.

…which is to say, I have never actually learned how to mount a secondhand TV monitor that didn’t come with any mounting hardware

but I have learned a crapton of yarncrafts, and I have a roll of strong-ass paracord

and this screen is getting macrame’d / shibari’d onto the shelving by my bed even if that is nowhere near what Nature intended

old-ass white LG monitor with RCA ports lying face down in my bed. I have wrapped it in black Paracord in such a way as to create a harness of knots from which I can hang it.ALT
Close-up of the side of the monitor and how the knots support it there. Looks disturbingly like shibari bondage.ALT
Front view of the monitor hanging in place. Looks okay except slightly crooked and you can see each corner has a line of Paracord crossing itALT
