Still More about Aster
her ride is nicknamed Pat, short for PatternRecognizer
it is not a Recognizer. She cannot steal or build or pilot a Recognizer. It’s a lightcycle modded to look like a Recognizer and most of it is just a fake projection, the actual rideable area of it is no bigger than any other lightcycle. she just enjoys freaking everyone out with it
she has a pet 8-bit cluster named Byson that can sorta communicate in ISO-8859-1. he is sassy.
(everyone misinterprets his name as a pun on Dyson or maybe B"ISO"n for a while until they notice that each of his component Bits is named “Gebysson” and then they go “usersdammit Aster it was all just a bit/byte pun, kevin-h-flynn where did you even LEARN German” and she’s like DUH. PATTERN RECOGNITION PROGRAM. i got trained on datasets in like ELEVEN languages before getting set free from that hellhole marketing corporation)
…
(YES i am gonna draw all this. eventually.)
…
you know what, revise that. Byson actually communicates in ISO-8859-731 …which is what happened after Aster made her own hundreds of tiny useless upgrades to ISO-8859
which she did JUST to get to that number
because 8859-731=8128 –which is the fourth perfect number, and YES it’s a pun/political statement (“fuck the New-Grid, ISOs are Perfect”)
#ISOs had also started coming out of the ENCOM game sea by the time Aster got there and she will kill & die to protect them
#she helped steal some from NewGrid too to keep them safe during the purge
here’s a message from Byson
he says
01001101
(that means “M” which is his personal shorthand for “It’s Tuesday”)
(you think he cares that it’s actually wednesday? lol. he lives on the encom grid. What even is time.)
(what with his past-and-present confusion of byte versus bit, he is not so clear on linguistic tenses so he MIGHT mean “it WAS tuesday” which is more accurate and also more fitting to the M-Byson theme but he does use them pretty much interchangeably)
(he says you can have his font if you really want it. it’s completely useless for anything except ones and zeros though, haha.)
