i have been tired of the sour-grapes “immortality is a curse” trope for years.

to me, accepting every sci-fi or fantasy world’s insistence that “an immortal being would get tired of living and want to die someday” is …kinda dangerously close to accepting that suicide is a good idea

(only difference being a timeframe of usually centuries at most… insignificant in the grand scale of the universe)

and I don’t wanna let myself accept that, because that way lies despair-spiraling

…luckily, I don’t think many people actually believe this

because I keep asking people “if you don’t want to live forever, why do you want to go to heaven when you die” and they keep saying “because life in heaven would be GOOD, duh”

and so clearly the thing they object to isn’t living forever

it’s living a life that sucks forever

which I CAN relate to
