I don’t have a hard time believing this.

Crows are smart as fuck I don’t even begin to doubt the veracity of these stories

A crow perched on a shrine boarder bowed back to me once while I was living in Japan. I was in laughing hysterics and a bit freaked out all the rest of the way home. Crows are fantastic and terrifying.

Crows are not nearly as scary as they could be.

A crow flying at my face, beak and claws out, could scare me into doing ANYTHING IT WANTED even without coming up with any clever psychological torture for me

I once got mugged by a goose. Was sitting in a park eating lunch and a goose came up out of nowhere and hissed at me. I hadn’t made any moves toward it. No goslings or nest nearby to protect. I think this goose had just figured out, people are so scared of a hissing goose that they often will drop food and run. And it worked. Goose got my lunch

For a crow to choose peaceful financial and/or empathetic persuasion over such barbaric tactics is just… Beautiful.

It’s like the guy who posted that rant about how his dog is supposed to bark and scare away wild animals so they don’t eat out of the dumpster, but a bear had taken to bringing deer bones and bribing the dog to let him into the dumpster anyway.

you realize a bear could squash a dog flat with one paw. That bear is setting up a CIVILIZED BARTER ECONOMY instead of choosing violence? and you are mad at it?
