kevin flynn learning through the randomest most oblivious trial and error
this scene is the wildest thing
this dude has no idea what he is doing
he punches the guy out. he’s going in to punch him again
(what exactly was he planning to do with him originally? who knows!)
BUT then he notices he is absorbing the circuit color
he did not choose to do this! he clearly has no idea what’s even happening!
maybe he was THINKING, “okay i’ll steal this dude’s uniform and disguise myself!” and then his User-Superpower was like “okay i get your intention, but that is NOT how clothes work here. Have some red circuits.”
so, Flynn seems to recognize this is a good idea, and goes with it
and then…
the guy derezzes?
flynn you killed him
you just vampired his life force away or something
again, flynn had no clue this would happen
“i don’t believe this”
i gotta say I am also pretty confused
…what does this mean about the lives of these enemies
what did MCP DO to them
are they rectified to the point that they’re NOTHING without their Red identity
…is Life Stored in the Circuits
so here, in this later (extreeeemely, um, suggestive) scene
it seems pretty clear Flynn also does not know how to change back; Tron appears to be helping him
…does this release the LIFE he STOLE
…does the red dude get rerezzed back where he came from
…does… does he have the memories of all the nonsense Flynn went through while wearing his identity
does he wake up gasping for breath…
the power surge of being inside a User’s body just fading from him
the last thing he can remember is his circuits going all violet while the legendary Tron grips him firmly on the wrist-circuitry and looks at him like THAT
….don’t tell me that didn’t CHANGE him
…how can he go back to working for MCP now
…
ok i am done
I really like the interpretation of his user powers following his intentions (he wants to disguise himself, thus he becomes red). I don’t know why I didn’t think about it like that until now.
It really opens up questions as to the “rules” of the grid. Clearly users have abilities in the Grid that programs do not. It makes me wonder what the “rules” are for how much users can affect the grid.
Yeah, it’s just so fascinating to think about! How much can the system respond to the User’s intentions? Does it depend on what experience the User has, what he’s good at, etc?
Flynn was able to get really far with it– even to the point of repairing a Recognizer– despite having only intentions and being oblivious in so many ways
What could a User do who *actually* understood how the system worked? And would the powers be different in regard to interactions with a Program *that User* wrote?
(like, could Roy’s User Power have managed to heal Ram enough to save him? and how much more effectively could Alan have helped Tron with, like everything?)
