I hate how the backslash apparently ruined this poll like Little Bobby Tables ruined his school’s database
but I also hate how the incessant misuse of the word “backslash” in commercials, news broadcasts, etc. has caused large parts of my generation (including multiple bosses I’ve had) to use the names of those punctuation marks in the exact reverse way from how I use them
leading to workplaces with no shared consensus on this part of language, where it is literally impossible to know what any person means by “backslash” or “forward slash” unless you stand over their computer and ask them to point out on the keyboard which one they’re talking about
So I’m reblogging just to spread my hate of every level of this
