THIS POST IS HOW I SHALL CELEBRATE ENCOM BREAK-IN DAY (SEP 22)

Aster, a program whose circuit patterns resemble interconnected asterisks, sits inside her lightcycle. It's a large, fully enclosed cycle and she's got one foot up on the seat as she sits there, viewed from the front with the handlebars in foreground. She's giving a scowl and middle finger to Byson, who's a floating diamond -shaped cluster of eight Bits, currently expressing a question mark in ASCII.ALT

So here’s the story I’ve been working on!

“A Lightcycle Built for Two”

About my TRON pattern recognition program OC, Aster

And how she reconnects with her estranged User

Besides being a therapeutic writing project where I work through a bunch of my own weirdass stuff, this ALSO involves:

1. TONS OF PUNS, computer analogies, and complex multilayered interconnected NERD STUFF

2. Worldbuilding for the post-MCP ENCOM system

3. including:

4. Innovation on how Bits work

5. Cultural context about how programs handle things like:

6. Jobs and work

7. Relationships and types of love

8. Different kinds of communication with the Users

9. A program’s interpretation of how User society works (or doesn’t)

10. Lots of fun witty banter on both sides of the screen

Haven’t posted it on AO3 yet because

1.

I’m not totally sure if it needs any finishing touches

2.

Not sure what to rate it. Probably either Teen or Mature

there’s a fair amount of User-style swearing, and some sexual themes, including offstage implied interfacing between programs…

And an onstage interface between Program and User, but it’s in the I/O Tower and 100% mental/emotional, no mention of actual body parts involved in it

Program intimacy is hard to tag for…
