It’s easy to talk about the reflections of Alan, Flynn and Dillinger with their programs but I don’t see a lot of people talking about the connections between Lora and Yori.
There’s the obvious things like their dedication to their work, their intelligence, beauty, casual and dedicated behavior. Lora’s perfectionism and exacting nature perfectly translates into her program but… so does her “wild side”.
It’s no secret how much I love the novelization, im annoying at this point but something I love is how it highlights Lora’s rebellious side.
My favorite show of this in the movie is two lines in particular.
“Don’t put any change in the meter we’re gonna need it for the games”
Firstly it’s how excited she is pulling Alan along through the arcade, this is made largely as a joke but I 100% believe she did not pay the meter. She does not care and that’s amazing, similarly to how casual and excited she is to breaking into Encom after hours
“Who let you do this?”
“Nobody , it’s ✨very illegal✨ I can only keep it this way for a short time before they catch me”
She’s giggling as she does this! Yori not caring about legality when she has the most lawful good boyfriend in existence is infinitely hilarious to me.
