I recently learned that Alan Bradley in Tron was named after Alan Kay, who pioneered many things in computer programming and user interfaces, and created one of the earliest conceptual predecessors to the laptop, tablet and e-book. He’s also been a jazz guitarrist and a pipe organist. And funnily enough, he did work at Disney for a few years in the 90s.
“I had the misfortune or the fortune to learn how to read fluently starting about the age of three, so I had read maybe 150 books by the time I hit first grade, and I already knew the teachers were lying to me.”
Reblogging for that quote, because that has such strong Alan Bradley vibes (which technically gives it Tron vibes, too.)
