hey I know this is a really old post BUT—I JUST SAW THIS AND THIS IS!!!! TOTALLY A ROMAN BATH!
We already know Kevin had such a thing for Rome, and designed a lot of things in his Grid to be like Rome (ie the Arena, even the idea of having a triumvirate of leaders which he was trying to do in Evolution, the fact that recognizers are just triumphal arches you can fly around) but I always thought it was missing something—and that’s it!!!
It’s actually a really good idea. In Ancient Rome the bath houses were not just places to swim but places where people would meet and do business and buy stuff. In the Grid, programs could probably go to the baths equivalent to get energy as well as meet up and do their business.
Basically, I’m unreasonably excited about the fact that this exists and isn’t just an idea i had.

ok my brain is now thinking about this side-by-side with that post about how we don’t know enough history about the slaves who helped keep the Roman baths running
and i was like… ok, the baths on the grid wouldn’t need slavery to keep running, right. because they’ve got TECHNOLOGY
