that poll asking what media introduced you to dragons is giving me an existential crisis. I talked to my mother about this. neither of us can remembering being introduced to the idea of dragons
it’s like asking what introduced you to horses or flowers or clouds. they’re just a thing you know about!
I wonder if “remembering where you learned about dragons” is more common in recent generations? Like are fewer kids these days learning about dragons at the correct time (before they’re old enough to form specific memories of how they learned something)
I only wonder because I saw a post once accusing someone of being derivative of Harry Potter by writing something about witches, and when people pointed out that the idea of witches was around for centuries before Harry Potter, the poster doubled down and argued like “well MOST PEOPLE first learned about witches from Harry Potter so any reference to witches is a Harry Potter reference by default” and I was like….?????????
