Happy Public Domain Day, everyone! This year it’s an extra special occasion, since the first film with Mickey Mouse now, at last, enters the public domain. You can read what that means exactly here, but to summarize: You can now publish material with Mickey and Minnie Mouse without Disney’s approval, as they appeared in Steamboat Willie, but not how they would look later (so no, not like in the Tron publicity image above, sadly). I look forward to seeing all kinds of creative uses of the characters!
