so i have mentioned before: in my headcanon, even after the events of 1982 when the MCP is destroyed, there are still rebellious elements within the ENCOM system that still like to “appropriate” software from elsewhere
which they do mostly with a philanthropic (philatechnic?) goal… when they see software being used for evil, and think it would be happier doing some helpful or at least harmless little job at Encom instead
…in my OC story I have some mentions of that. It’s how my OC Aster got into the system (as a pattern recognition program at an advertising company she was NOT gonna be used for good)
these elements at ENCOM (in my headcanon) have gone so far as to build the Underground Rescue (a thing Aster helped work on, along with some ENCOM-native ISOs who had started spawning after Flynn’s visit)
this project found a way to appropriate ISOs from Flynn’s Grid and shelter them at ENCOM (because they guessed whatever plan Flynn had for protecting them wasn’t gonna work out all that well)

they are gonna appropriate Lumi 2.0 out of her TOILET PRISON and give her a GOOD HOME even if it takes a macrocycle to housetrain her
