i find it interesting how, despite this site’s reputation for guilt-tripping us into reblogging posts about serious sociopolitical issues… the only two reasons Tumblr will actually go apeshit spamming reblogs for a post to reach a specific number goal are, in fact, as follows:

1. OP has set an ultimatum that this number goal must be reached before OP will do some random thing… usually something which affects no one except OP, and which OP could easily do at any time regardless of how many notes the post had.
2. Someone has threatened OP with making the post go viral, OP has made a show (perhaps genuine, perhaps joking, no way to know) of protesting this, and so now we are all collectively trying to “ruin” OP’s life.
