…It was very clear on the point that the main OC is a not-fully-humanoid piece of pattern recognition software, who gets her orgasms from energy and data transfer, and also (explicitly in one scene) from puns.
Her whole persona is structured around the symbolism of the asterisk, because of multiple connections it has to things that are meaningful to her. Among these are “syllable that sounds like ‘ass’” and “shape that looks like an asshole”… but she canonically does not have an asshole. She just is one.
