hey 82 fans
ok I love all you Tron fans, and there’s stuff I enjoy in every part of this franchise, and I will always fight like hell for all of our right to like whatever we like–
but right now i am specifically shouting out to those of you who (like me) happen to love the 1982 movie the best.
I’m feeling a little bit frustrated with a lot of what’s being discussed about the upcoming new movie…
not just the movie itself (I have no idea what it’ll be like and I know better than to pin any specific expectation on it)… But also the amount of disappointment i am seeing among fans who WERE hoping to see something specific from it and are upset ‘cause they think they won’t
I personally do not care what the new movie does, any more than I care what any randomly chosen fanfic writer will write next (though honestly I care way MORE about what some specific fanfic writers will write, yall are AWESOME)
the line between fan fiction and licensed fiction no longer exists for me. I may be new to Tron, but I have been in various fandoms long enough that I no longer give two null-bits about whether a new storyline is officially sanctioned by whichever dystopian hell controls the franchise in question.
or even whether it has been acted out and filmed. I like written stories as much as I like movies. Sometimes more. WHICH IS COOL FOR ME because you need a lotta expensive resources to make a movie and lots more people (with lots more diverse and interesting ideas!) have access to the ability to write.
I will love and enjoy a whole bunch of different storylines, no matter who writes them, even if they contradict each other, as long as there’s writing I like and themes that interest me

Well, my old fanfic “TRON: Anthem” basically grew from my thoughts about what kind of stories I wanted the Tron franchise to tell, that they should be more like allegories based on current day technology than speculation about future technology.
And then there’s my later “Alien vs. TRON”, where I just self-indulgently tried to imagine what it would be like if the franchise got mixed up with those old “Aliens vs…” comics of the 90s.
