Okay so I’m having a debate with a friend and I cannot believe his opinion on this. I thought there was a clear consensus on this, but I guess not. So now we need to ask the masses!

Not voting in this because too much nuance.
Both are personally repulsive to me (a vegetarian who would also really prefer to go no-contact with most of my biological family).
But… trying my best at an objective viewpoint…
Assuming the cannibalism didn’t come with murder, and the incest didn’t come with rape or child molesting, they seem like equally victimless crimes at first glance
…But they have different potential harms, even if no one means to cause harm.
Incest:
- high potential for coercion even if both say they consent; family ties are easily used to manipulate.
- Also if the relationship ends badly, this screws up a lot of one’s future unless you cut off ties with family afterwards
- potential genetic problems for any offspring (although moralizing about this opens a bad can of worms about the reproductive rights of people with genetic disorders, so I’m not excited to go there)
Cannibalism:
- anger from loved ones of the deceased, who will likely object to what you did, even if you didn’t cause the death, and even if the deceased gave permission to use body that way. (Only likely to avoid this conflict if it was a real survival situation.)
- FUCKING PRION DISEASE seriously a big part of why you don’t eat your own kind is YOUR OWN KIND IS THE EASIEST TO CATCH GODDAMN DISEASES FROM this is not a fucking joke
