The plot hole in this fairy tale was taught to me as an example when learning about thermodynamics.
(because yes they left the porridge to cool… BUT if three bowls start at the same temperature the smallest one will cool down the fastest. So unless mom put ice in hers before they went out, Baby’s bowl was NOT the “just right” one)
Another (mostly unrelated) detail about this particular folktale: The bears being a nuclear family is a pretty new adaptation.
In the earliest versions of the story, they were three “bachelor” roommates who just happened to be Big, Middle-sized and Small.
So yeah Goldilocks didn’t break into the home of a couple with a baby. She broke into the home of three mysteriously affiliated adult… bears.
