for some reason my tron-focused, connection-making brain read this as a reference to the different symbols ISOs are marked with, in TRON Legacy and Uprising

the ones that vaguely resemble the well-known “male and female” Venus and Mars symbols, and which the Tron Wiki claims are to indicate male and female ISOs

however (regardless of authorial intent) I am extremely resistant to accept that any programs (let alone ISOs, who don’t have Users of any gender to resemble!) would have anything equivalent to “male and female” as humans understand it

and I am not fond of the only explanation I can see for this (i.e., the ISOs formed from the presence of Flynn’s humanity on the Grid; their gender-assigning tattoos are a manifestation of Flynn’s ingrained idea of human gender binary, imprinted for no good reason on these programs of his accidental creation)

and I would rather believe that these different markings indicate something else entirely, other than “male” or “female”

no idea what. that’s for the plotbunnies to breed later
