• a romance story must have a happily-ever-after ending
• the HEA ending must be expressed with marriage and children, to make it clear they stay together forever

next obvious steps are:

• marriage and children do not guarantee they stay together their whole lives, it only makes things worse if they don’t
• how can we make it actually clear their love lasts a lifetime?
• well
• show the whole rest of their lifetime, up to the end
• real HEA = they both die
