me: just because something sounds the same doesn’t make it the same

when i introduced Tron to my roomies back in CA they were so VERY convinced that Encom (down to its logo) was an Enron reference and their minds exploded when they looked up Enron and it said it wasn’t even founded until ‘85 or something

small brain: Encom is an Enron reference

medium brain: have to be unrelated, the years don’t line up

big brain: Enron was an Encom reference

I mean, there’s a real life robotics company named “Cyberdyne” that was founded many years after Terminator, so there is some precedent for “let’s name our real life company after a ficticious evil one”.
