I just woke up from a dream in which I lived in a family that included two women who were lawyers –both my elders, one was clearly the elder of the other, but unclear how we were related exactly. They seemed to have an ongoing power struggle involving a lot of legal cases

example that I witnessed in the dream was that the younger one went out without a bra, the elder one tried to get her on indecent exposure, the younger one tried to stand her ground and countersue for sex discrimination or something but ultimately decided to pick her battles and just put on a bra

also we had a parrot that was cursed (maybe blessed) with the guarantee that it would commit one randomly selected crime every year, but it always ended up getting “tax evasion”

this was implied to be just a matter of odds, related to the ratio of tax-evasion-related crimes versus other crimes on the books. It was NOT just because it was a parrot and literally couldn’t pay taxes– no, it clearly was doing the tax evasion in a way that was actually illegal, like helping the rest of us cheat on our taxes… and despite the aggressive legal presence in this family we always celebrated the parrot’s yearly achievement

(completely unrelated fact: this dream all happened after I woke up in the night and decided that a pile of marshmallows and chocolate chips warmed in a mug in the toaster oven would be a great midnight snack. 5/5 would always recommend)
