TRON (1982) is about many things– some deliberate, some unintentional, some we’ll never know
but one of the most interesting is, it’s about role reversal between gods and humans.
the programs worship the human Users as gods.
But, between User and Program– which of them is an ethereal, non-corporeal Concept, embodied in an apparition whose form could change at any time?
Which of them has simple, straightforward moral directives, upheld without inconsistency?*
Which of them has the potential to be immortal, if only their friends on the other side can continue practicing enough reverence for them?
