One more little example of the sort of counterintuitive thing that will get you, if you’re autistic and/or your life is just slightly outside some of society’s “norms.”

If this were a world where questions were straightforward and said what they meant… then I would be considered ridiculous for asking this, instead of just clicking the box for the obviously accurate fact that I don’t have a driver’s license.

In this world– where I’ve lived long enough to know that “not having a driver’s license” makes me an almost negligible outlier, and that “driver’s license” is very often (though seldom on official forms) treated as a catchall term for all state IDs— I might be considered ridiculous for not choosing the other option.

We shall see.
