I had a thought earlier today. Well, really it’s been bugging me for a while, but it all really came together today. I made a post a little while back about Beck’s hair reminding me of Tron’s (in the production stills) and somebody commented that this design was probably intentional. That could be true from a out-of-universe perspective, but… what if it was true from an in-universe perspective?

This leaves me with two potential headcanon explanations:

1. Flynn borrowed or was influenced by other people’s code when he made the Grid programs. Something of Beck was based on some Alan code, so he turned out looking like Tron.

2. Flynn intentionally made Beck look like Alan or Tron. He never intended for Beck to meet his design influence, but Flynn made him that way for some reason.

I just think if either of these were true and Flynn met Beck, it would spook the hell out of Flynn to find out Beck’s Tron’s apprentice. What would Tron think about this too? Did he ever notice? Who knows!

Damn, WOW.

Fascinating thoughts.

…I also once saw a fanfic (or very detailed headcanon?) in which Beck was literally Tron’s son– a child-process that had forked from his code somehow– which is a thing IRL programs can do, but we never see Tron programs doing in canon, but still it’s a potentially possible theory?

(I don’t have a particular opinion on the idea of programs having literal offspring or families… I tend not to use that concept in my own fic, or even show them having the same concept of family relationships that humans have. But I guess I can find it interesting in an abstract way to imagine how that could fit into stories. And it’s an interesting concept that if Beck was literally Tron’s child, he might have his dad’s hair.)
