Anonymous:
After Sark's/The MCP's Deresolution, what do you think happened to the Games on the ENCOM System? Like, do the Games become safe, for fun-type activities with no risk of Permanent Deresolution involved and/or do you think the Games are still dangerous and/or there is a "Permaderez" option for any Programs/Digitized Users who want to participate in the Games with that option on?

Hmm. I don’t know!

I think if the games are necessary for the Arcades to keep working (as I interpret it) then there would definitely still BE games, and I also interpreted the “lethal matches” as being something unnecessary that MCP introduced for his own reasons.

So I can certainly imagine games continuing in the form of a professional sport or a fun pastime.

There might still be programs who want the danger of playing games that risk their lives (there are definitely humans who like that kind of thrill)….

….and I suppose fulfilling that desire would require figuring some things out. Because, as I understand it, in the Encom system everyone’s function is important.

So if a program is going to do something that risks their life– especially just for fun– they’d probably at least have to make sure a replacement with all the same skills would be available, just in case.
