thinking about how the appliances in The Brave Little Toaster and the toys in Toy Story each broke their rule of “humans can’t see us being alive!” only once, and in each case it was to scare the hell out of a human who had a hobby of dissecting and swapping out their parts, which was portrayed as terrifying body horror although the human had no idea they were anything except inanimate objects

Only difference was, the toys actually revealed that they were living toys

while the toaster crew pulled off their stunt in a way that made them look like a generic ghost, so they didn’t even teach the guy a lesson about how maybe he should be nicer to household appliances and only use their parts if they’re unsalvageable and consented to organ donation

All future vivisections by this dude are 100% on them. Just saying.
