Alongside the significance in programming** and the fact that I like both stars and flowers*** as well as just the visual symbol****

** asterisk, in programming language, often serves as a wildcard that can stand in for anything. My own ability to do a wide variety of different things is directly attributable to my tendency to make connections and apply knowledge from one field to another

*** aster means star, but it also means a daisy-like flower, which I also tangentially tied into the theme song of the big self-indulgent self-insert Tron OC fic I wrote to explore all this a while back*****
