All this L Frank Baum stuff all over my dash lately really reminds me I gotta explore Tron/Wizard of Oz crossovers at some point

(it’s just so mixed up with all the other similar fiction that I see multiple layers of connection to, and I can’t just pick something, ok)

I mean. I haven’t seen the musical Wicked (or the book or movie for that matter) so I don’t know where to tie that in (Tron Betrayal maybe?) and the roots of this whole mess of connection are still all in Tron 1982 and the old movie Wizard of Oz, but still. It’s stuck in my head, ok

basically. Dorothy (Kevin Flynn) opens by singing Over The Rainbow (having rainbow decorations all over his arcade and apartment) to foreshadow how she’s gonna end up in a magical world (computer world) with a drastically different color scheme, portrayed in the brand new technology of Technicolor film (computer animation), where she’ll make some new friends who are man-made constructs like a scarecrow and tin man (programs) who somehow developed functional equivalents of the brain and heart (consciousness and intelligence) that they shouldn’t have been able to have, and then they all team up to fight the enemy who’s a giant green (red) face, and she gets back home and back to all her friends who have the same faces as people she met in the adventure (and you were there! And you, and you and you!)
