jan-ala:

becoming increasingly convinced that the internet is a failed project in every venture past shitposting.

what else does it even do AS well as more traditional mediums? not even asking myself what it does better at this point. equally good would be a huge step up.

I guess chat with a small group of friends… to share pictures and information relevant to your daily lives (maybe also including shitposts, but not limited to that)

could be argued that a small internet forum does this comparably well to, say, a group cellphone chat (which may also qualify as part of “the internet”? depending on what the technology behind it is? I don’t know enough about the terminology and exact definitions to be sure)

(and for me personally, being able to contact any small group of friends without having to use a cellphone, only my computer, is a plus in itself. other people’s mileage may vary.)

also, if email counts as “the internet,” there are several types of data (ebooks, large images, etc) where email is the best or perhaps only method I know to share them with a friend who lives far away
