“Don’t interact with that ridiculous hot take, it’s obviously bait” is a good rule to follow

But another one that I sometimes have to remind myself to follow is,

“Someone can create what they genuinely believe is an insightful and meaningful work of art or commentary, and they may intend for people’s interactions with it to be nothing but enlightening. However, if they make this work out of a tangle of fishing line full of hooks with live worms speared on them… and they present it to the world by throwing it into a public swimming pool… then, pretty much everyone who interacts with it is just gonna get themselves and/or somebody else speared on a hook. Unintended bait still functions, basically, as bait.”
