Dream job

If this happened to me, I’d show up to work with my Switch, basket of yarn and crochet hooks, and books from my tbr pile - if you think I am not willing to get paid to do nothing, you are sadly mistaken. It’s impossible for me to get bored.

And this … works?

Neurotypical people are WEIRD.

Apparently?

People are in the notes saying oh but I would hate not socializing with my co workers :( and I’m like. Huh????

Having to Forcibly Socialize with people I often tolerate at best at work is my single most spoon burning event of the day. If I could show up, not have tasks, and not have anyone talk to me but also wouldn’t get fired, I would be taking naps in the conference room, reading through my To Read pile, and cutting out a sewing pattern.

I am deeply curious how this works. Because people have said in the notes “oh you wouldn’t be allowed to bring a book or a notebook to write or draw in, or any art supplies or entertainment, you’d be expected to be bored

…but I am very skilled at sneaking things into places, and at making entertainment materials out of whatever’s already there…

and if their entire goal is not to fire me, then what are they gonna do if they catch me having fun?

(And besides, sitting absolutely still doing nothing at all for a whole work shift would still be better than some jobs I’ve had. I can entertain myself inside my head surprisingly well.)

(…though. I gotta admit, me personally… I would have trouble handling the disdain of coworkers. Being disliked by anyone really does mess with me, even when it shouldn’t. So I am not gonna claim this would be a good job for me. Just that the “you wouldn’t be allowed to entertain yourself” part makes no sense.)
