I feel as if someone could actually be really successful setting up a brick and mortar video-rental store in the present day.

I mean streaming services killed in-person video rental places… but now streaming services are nowhere near as good as those places were

a video rental place could simultaneously stock physical copies of all the shows available on ALL the streaming services, all in one affordable little local shop

…. Well. All the ones that have actually been released on physical media, anyway.

Not a lot of the newer stuff, not legally. But you can still get DVDs and even old VHS tapes of many things that were released years back.

And i feel like now it could totally be a working business model to bring back the tradition of storing and renting them out

…If there isn’t somehow a law against that now

…wouldn’t be that surprised if there is

corporations ruin everything

(for what it’s worth, I have heard that libraries can do some of this. I’ve been meaning to get more involved with my local library, and it might end up being a source of videos for movie nights in my life one of these days)
