non-gamers like me should not be answering this, but it’s 4 am and I feel like it would be hilarious
i will absolutely NOT look cool from this, and I cannot curate. gonna be a struggle to think of 5
windows solitaire
windows solitaire FreeCell
the “Anagrams” game on the Franklin Language Master
the “Letris” game on the Franklin Language Master (I sucked at it and didn’t like it because shit reflexes, but I got a little bit fixated on trying for a little while)
a game in an AfterDark screensaver that involved using the keyboard to fly a little spaceship around and shoot at asteroids and stuff. i can’t remember its name and I sucked at it very badly, but it was the closest I ever got to being addicted to a computer game

how can you say non gamer and then mention windows solitaire and FreeCell, that was my childhood right there! Had a pinball game on my computer too around that time and that was definitely the three things that got me into gaming originally.
*highfives*
maybe it would have gotten me into gaming in another universe. but I had soooo many other interests, most of them fixated on Art and Creating things… so playing games of any type ended up feeling like a waste of time because there was no new thing produced after it, except… personal happiness and memories.
Which I probably should have gotten in the habit of valuing more, earlier in life. Ah well.
I interpreted the question as being about games only up to my teen years, but it’s probably also relevant that in my early 20’s I had a Linux laptop for a while and was actually pretty fond of the game KAtomic.
I also had a number of little freeware games on my Handspring Visor. Even before smartphones were a thing, I did need my little handheld device to stay out of terrible boredom a lot of the time.
But these days I waste a lot of that bored time doomscrolling Tumblr. I’m considering some changes in that.
