So, if you know the things I’m into IRL, you might think my favorite detail from Norse mythology would be something like Freya’s necklace (pretty shiny jewelry!) or Sleipnir (weird spiderhorse with pervy genderbending backstory!)

And sure, those are cool! But actually? When I was a little kid reading my first book of Norse legends? The artifact that stuck most in my head was Skidbladnir.

A ship that was big enough for all the gods to sail on, but then could be folded up to fit in a pocket?? Fuckin’ awesome.

I don’t know. There’s just something about it. Things that can fold up smaller than you’d think.

Realizing I’ve developed kind of a collection of those. Even if I no longer have all the things in that collection that i’ve owned at some point.

Including IRL foldable boats (inflatable kayak etc.) And foldable bicycles.

I guess the idea of extra-convenient transportation feels empowering to me? Weird power fantasy, but… You know what sorts of things in the good old USA kinda have to be fantasies sometimes.

Anyway. This is TOTALLY unconnected to my current obsession with a fictional world where bikes and fuckin’ AIRPLANES can both fold up to the size of a baton.

(putting that whole world –well, a few MP4s of it anyway – in a USB drive and wearing it as a necklace now. For no damn reason.)
