(Welcome to the fandom, btw. I don’t know what to think of the new movie, but I am VERY fixated on the 1982 movie and am happy to see anything awakening a new interest in it among fans, for any reason.)
As much as I personally ship Tron and Ram, and eventually poly-ship with Yori… I do 100% headcanon that every one of those three programs felt Flynn’s User-power as an uncontrollable attraction they couldn’t understand or resist.
and, specifically in the Ram scene? …I used that to make my own fix-it-fic headcanon of what happened there.
(With some basis in an early-draft script of the 1982 movie that provides an actual example of how program intimacy works. Because I’m a pattern recognition program.)
I always thought there was something a little bit fruity about the way Tron is smiling and holding onto Flynn as he watches the colors of his circuits shift back to match his own. I couldn’t ever explain why, but it just seemed so intimate and playful and celebratory. You know. Kinda gay.
Tron’s winning smile does a lot, too, lol!
Oh definitely. His smile is soooo gorgeous (the dimples!) and the way he’s looking at Flynn is just… adoring. Like I’ve even seen people who hate the Tron/Flynn ship look at that scene and go “dammit tron don’t look at him like that!” hahaha
And I especially love how the context we get from the Deleted Love Scene gives us a likely meaning for circuits turning purple…. which makes us wonder just a bit about Flynn’s little moment there in between red and blue.
Overall, though, Flynn in that scene looks just… confused and oblivious. But then that’s Flynn, lol. (Almost feels symbolic that he lost his only “clu” in his introductory scene.)
