Tumblr Utils-Backup Tutorial
Considering how things are going, now’s a good time to back up your tumblr blogs. The download option in Tumblr may be less than optimal, as @astercontrol mentioned there was an issue with how media in posts are linked. The other option is a Tumblr Backup developed by Bbolli, though it may be a little intimidating if you have never used command line.
That being said, it is actually very difficult to mess things up through command line, unless you’re inputting a command that you have no idea what it does. If someone tells you to input a command, look up what it does before entering it into the terminal.
Bbolli has a tutorial on how to use tumblr backup as a markdown file with the download. That being said, here’s a my explanation of it, under the cut because it is going to get long.
