No I would suspect he was playing it from the moment it came out

(just guessing. Based on the stories about how the other actors had to keep dragging him back to work bc otherwise he’d just keep playing the arcade games on the Tron set and beating their high scores)

(the jeff bridges school of method acting has only one method, it’s “get cast as characters who are you IRL” and jeff is just the best at that)
