so I was about to go with my automatic response to this kind of BS, which was:
“The first post in that screenshot is exactly the same thing as that poll going around now asking how you pronounce ‘Mr.’ (and then listing a bunch of options that no one would ever choose in a million years). This type of post, 99% of the time, is made solely to get people to comment on it saying it’s wrong. Because then OP gets engagement and notes, which raises their status in the algorithm until they can eventually use it for advertising or something. The person who replies to it, pointing out the obvious fallacy, is invariably the real fool for taking the bait. Everyone knows this, why does it keep happening”
But then it occurred to me that maybe this post– simply a screenshotted repost of one such interaction– might be a similar trap, set for people whose automatic response is the same as mine.
And I fell right into it.
Damn.
No, the biggest fool is me, because my first thought when seeing the original post was “he’s cleary wrong, I can think of lots of words with double O. Like Tatooine, Dooku, wookiee, Naboo, Plo Koon…”
hahahaaaa
(ok now I am gonna start a 100 year war in the linguistics community over whether those count as 'English words’ because they were made up by a fiction writer who speaks English. All the publicity I accrue via this war will eventually be used for advertising.)
