I love how in the 1982 Tron deleted scenes featurette, the director and associate producer are talking about the love scene between Tron and Yori that got cut, and how they really regret leaving it out, and they’re both like “Yeah, it was such a lovely scene, it helped with world building and it fleshed out the characters a lot more. It was sensual, creative, visually beautiful, and a bit sexy. We really should have left it in.”
And meanwhile Bruce Boxleitner is like: “WHY ARE THE COMPUTER PROGRAMS FUCKING”
The weird thing is, while they’re agreeing that it was a good scene, they also mention having a rather heated debate about it in a parking lot. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall for that discussion…
thing is, I bet someone WAS.
At least a few people. Because parking lots are public places, with people going around in them, even when it’s 100+ degrees in a LA summer.
…As someone who has lived in Los Angeles, and walked through 100-degree parking lots, and overheard quite a lot of conversations that were clearly only comprehensible to those involved in whatever extremely specific creative project was being discussed…
I think I actually have a pretty good idea of what any “flies on that wall” were thinking.
Something along the lines of “WTF?… LMAO, those weird Hollywood movie people… eh whatever. I have errands to run. (promptly forgets all the specifics of what they heard)”
(crying at what was lost)
