Vagueposting about a couple different things in particular, but also about a general trend:
You can admit that some bad things are true, and also that they are still bad.
You can admit that some bad things are true and probably impossible to ever change, and that they are still bad
You can talk about a terrible, tragic fact of life without having to make up an unrealistic way it’s going to get fixed… or stretch and warp the interpretation of it to claim that all the bad things about it are Actually Good…. or laser-focus on a tiny bright side of the situation that is absolutely not worth all the horror around it
You can do this. It sucks. It doesn’t yield happy feelings or increase hope. But it can be done.
And it is better than telling all the people who are sad about the bad thing that their feelings are pointless and invalid and they just have to repaint the inside of their minds in a cheerful color and everything will be fine.
Because that’s what you’re doing. Even if you think you’re doing something else.
