Me too.
I think I’ve mentioned before how the different incarnations of this franchise feel like very separate works to me … and how this is common in properties that span many years and many creative teams… and how the best way to enjoy being a spectator of such a franchise is probably to try and think of each part as a separate story.
And I do like how well I’ve been able to do that with my favorite part, the 1982 movie.
It does have themes that encourage imagination and exploration in fanworks– lots of interesting stories that can begin with that one!– but it doesn’t feel like it needs them in order to be complete. It stands well on its own.
