Not reblogging that post about how using AI to write things makes you “a dweeb” and brings out OP’s desire to be a “jock” and shove AI and its users “into a locker”
Because i sort of think people may be forgetting how the whole concept of the nerd/jock dynamic worked
(nerds: the ones who put in the effort to study and do their homework, at the expense of any chance of keeping up with popular society’s expectations)
(jocks: the ones obsessed with popularity, who just copy off the nerds, or threaten them with violence, e.g. getting shoved into lockers etc, if they don’t let their work be thusly stolen)
(the AI controversy very much is not in a position to cast AI users as the nerds, is what I’m saying)
(i mean. I know language changes… but the usage of “nerd” and “geek” and the various related words has shifted into something outright incomprehensible)
(with the people who claim the terms for themselves mostly using them to mean “fans of the same popular media that I’m into”…. and everyone else using it to mean simply “whoever I look down on”)
…sigh
