I love looking at 2-3 week old kittens and saying That thang is hardly even alive. do they know where they are I don’t think they do
There’s nothing cognitive going on here. His neurons haven’t sequenced sentience yet
in the late 90s or early 00s there was a craze for robot pets (the Aibo dog and everything from that on down in complexity)
and i remember one “robot cat” was a silly little toy that did only the most vague approximations of responding to its environment… but I remember it had some line on the box like “has the same intellect as a real 2 week old kitten”
and I think that’s the one time I ever actually believed that an artificial intelligence succeeded in equaling the natural intelligence it was modeled after
the thing could not even figure out how to turn when it hit a wall. passed the 2-week-old kitten turing test (purring test) with 100% score
