being in a small fandom is like being given a bone, chewing on it until you’re done with it, burying it in your backyard, and then digging that same chewed up bone months later to continue chewing on it, and then the cycle just repeats.
this is especially true for small fandoms that you know won’t be getting any new content, so you just have to consume the content you’ve already consumed thousands of times before.
And sometimes the fandom buys you a new bone and it’s big and expensive and brightly colored, but it’s made of plastic, and it smells like slightly rancid plastic, if slightly rancid plastic were even possible, and is covered in little spikes of plastic that you know you’d cut your mouth on, and you don’t want it at all, and you’d much rather chew on your old familiar real bone, but every time you dig it up to chew on it you’re surrounded by other fans talking about the big fancy new plastic bone and what it’s gonna be like and how they either love it or hate it, and either way they barely even want to share the old good bone any more and it almost makes you wanna give up bones for a while
