so I recently moved into a house that is over a hundred years old
And although it’s been recently pretty well renovated, it still does… weird things that old houses do sometimes
And I am still trying to figure out which of those things are concerning and which are not
For example. It shifts. I am discovering that I cannot plan any arrangement of furnishings around the assumption that the measurements of the house will remain the same to within a couple inches over the course of a day
for example. In one place I ran an extension cord from an outlet on one side of the room, across the ceiling to the top of a shelf on the other side. I affixed the end of the extension cord to a basket on the top of that shelf, to hold it in place for the time being. The cord was not drawn extremely taut or anything. But even so, I later came back to find the end of the extension cord hanging from the ceiling, while still affixed to the basket– which it had pulled off of the shelf, and was now dangling in the middle of the room like some sort of mischievous tentacle
Also: the tension rod which WAS quite snugly holding a curtain in my bay window has now fallen out. evidently the bay window has become slightly wider since I hung the thing up
…how worried should I be?
