“So what’s coming through the connection today, Tron?”
“Hard to say, Yori. Ever since Flynn took over Encom, he’s been connecting our computer to more and more technologically different systems. Testing the limits of what kinds of programs from what kinds of computers CAN be rezzed into ours.”
“Hmm. I imagine, past some level of technological difference, a part of our system would essentially have to be rewritten into an emulator to run a copy of the newcomer as an Encom program.”
“Exactly. And he’s done this several times. I think he’s getting a kick out of just seeing how our system rezzes more and more distantly related types of software.”
“Ha! Yeah, you got me! Greetings programs, guess I got here just in time!”
“Flynn. What are you up to with this one?”
“Watch the entry port and see, sweetheart.”
*brrRRRRRZZZZT*
“Oh my… She’s lovely! Tron, don’t you think so?”
“Not like you, Yori. And my job is to scan her for malware, not comment on her circuit patterns.”
“I’ve never SEEN such patterns, though!! She and I have got to talk fashion and decorating… Greetings, program! Welcome to the Encom system!”
“Oh! … Greetings? …My Users, what is this place?”
“Flynn, did you even tell her where you were taking her?”
“Couldn’t, man! She couldn’t have understood me then. Lots of other systems don’t even have software capable of thoughts and feelings like ours, it doesn’t turn sentient until it gets in here. She’s disoriented because she’s trying to fill in emotional context to raw-data memories that had none before.”
“Flynn…”
“…okay. She’s a punch card for a jacquard loom, okay? I wanted to see if it could be done! …We can call her Jacquie.”
“Flynn.”
“oooh! let’s get a picture of her and Yori together! Wire Mommy and Cloth Mommy”
“FLYNN”
.. yes i am planning to draw her.
