So you know how there’s at least a few canon hints that in TRON (1982) the Master Control Program did not approve of programs having intimate pleasure with each other
like, ok it’s not 100% clear, there’s definitely other possible interpretations, but
- the fact that the MCP not only kept “male” and “female” programs separate (males as warriors like Tron, females as desk workers like Yori) but also set up environments very hostile toward any sexy fooling around within those segregated spaces (warriors not currently fighting gladiator battles were kept in tiny cells that were subdivided with forcefields so they couldn’t even touch their cellmates… desk workers had apparently zero privacy in that open-floorplan workplace, and the only reason Yori had privacy in her own damn quarters is because she was teh 1337 haxx0r)
- the fact that the Deleted Love Scene features Yori bringing Tron to her secret haxx0red safe room to do both 1. plotting the revolution and 2. circuit-touching sexytimes, kinda suggests that both are things one couldn’t safely do anyplace where the MCP could see
- the fact that the two of them never kissed until the end of the movie, despite being clearly in a romantic relationship and having multiple scenes where they just… look at each other, longingly, totally seeming like they WANT to kiss but… can’t quite articulate what they want?? …and the first kiss that happens in their world is not between the actual two programs in a romantic relationship – though they do it too, right after – but is between Flynn (human programmer with literal god powers in that realm) and Yori (program with probably the most awareness of the User World besides like. Dumont and the MCP himself)
….Suggesting, to me, that the reason those two even kissed, was because they simultaneously realized that 1. Kissing was a thing programs would generally really enjoy, and 2. The only reason they haven’t been doing it is because the MCP was restricting the goddamn permissions on it, and 3. it would take the combined skills and insights of a dumbass User and a genius laser program to hack their way around that shit
… anyway.

As for the lack of kissing, I just thought they didn’t do it because programs don’t know what it is. They have humanoid (User-like) bodies, but until Flynn, I don’t think they realized they looked like Users.
As for separation of male and female, could that not be due to program type/function rather than gender? The programs Yori is with all appear to be the same type of program as she is, or at least a similar type, and seem to be doing the same kind of job she is.
…yeah, as I said, there are other possible interpretations.
This is just my attempt to recount the bizarre interplay among interpretations that happened to occur in my own brain…. leading up to making a cursed comparison between MCP and MasterCard (a corporation currently under scrutiny for, IMO, being a very MCP-like control freak).
“teh 1337 haxx0r” is extremely dated hacker slang, from when being a hacker was expressed with a mixture of deliberate typos and replacing letters with numbers and punctuation. That particular phrase translates to “the elite hacker,” with “elite” getting warped into “leet” before being fully converted to numbers that slightly visually resemble the letters.
I talk like that occasionally, because I am 44 years old and have killed the part of me that cringes at such things.
