dumbtronaus:

Programs’ ID disks can also be used with any vinyl record player.

this is one that really makes me think, in a delightful way

because if we are talking about actual vinyl record players in the user world, then it suggests all programs can get lasered out into the world like Quorra… and while their bodies rez out as human bodies, their discs rez out as standard vinyl records …and what do they do when played? Recite everything the program ever “did or learned,” in a tinny antique recorded-sounding human voice? I love it

But, if this applies within the computer world… Then, it suggests that all in-system mechanisms for reading the contents of a disc are modeled on the exact specs of record players… and so, in this AU, even if they project the data as a glowy holographic image, like we see a few times in canon, it still begins with setting the disc down on a turntable and carefully positioning the arm with its needle onto one of those circuit-glowy grooves

Which i also love.

Yay.
